I don’t know about you all, but last week I felt like I was in a sugar coma for a few too many days… Between three Christmas parties, goodies given to us by friends and family, and gettin’ my bake on, there’s been homemade Christmas treats surrounding us nonstop! Homemade Christmas cookies, fudge, and other desserts are something that I have a really difficult time saying “no” to. The combination of having the largest sweet tooth ever + homemade festive treats = Ashley’s self control goes out the window.
After Sunday evening of my husband and me demolishing a pumpkin roll that our neighbors brought over, I decided enough is enough. Don’t get me wrong, I loooove my sugary treats and desserts, but that feeling of having too much finally hit me on Sunday evening. I really would like to still fit in my jeans by the end of Christmas this year. 😉 I vowed to myself to focus on lots of vegetables and cutting down on the sweets this week. So far so good, and I feel so much better than when I was in my sugar coma on and off last week.
Coming out of my “sugar coma” from last week really reaffirmed for me how much I enjoy eating healthy. It just makes me feel so much better, I have more energy, and I know that I’m doing something good for my body. Of course, sweets and other not-so-good-for-you foods are great on occasion, but too much of a good thing can be bad. I’ve obviously known all of this before last week, but experiencing the negative effects of too much sugar just reminded me again how much I enjoy being able to treat my body well.
- Have you been hit with a sugar coma yet this holiday season?
- Can you relate to what I’m talking about here?
